Here we are, distracted
Distracted by this thing called life
We fail to see that we are slaves to another
A master who doesn't oppress or suppress
But instead gives us a voice
A voice we so much want to be heard
And now we not only lend our voices
But instead we give everything
Our voices are now so amplified
That we speak over each other
There's no time to have a dream
Because we are all too busy creating content for the new master
We have been given new identities thinking we created them
Our beliefs suppressed, by fear and embarrassment
In our distraction we gave it all up
We police those that dare oppose the new master with ways of the old
Religion the ultimate control, yet we only care too much what Jesus said
Too distracted to see that we don't think anymore
Distracted like children with new toys
All of us, moving targets, holding the red dots to our own heads
We can't stop it, we don't even see that it threatens what's left of us
We are not on drugs, but we are addicted
Because we have no choice
Our daily lives revolve around the new master
Our businesses depend on the new master
You only hear my voice today, because of the new master
This is no clarion call, because even I can't hear it.
All hail the new master, Technology.
